How to Write Well

1…. Don’t ever present your ideas in the form of a numbered list

2. Never repeat yourself or say things more than once
3. Avoid (whenever possible) the use of parenthetical phrases (unless absolutely necessary)
4. The use of foreign words and expressions is considered a faux pas
5. Avoid cliches like the plague
6. Never adopt a condescending tone with your readers – that means to talk down to them
7. To be avoided at all times is the reverse construction of sentences
8. Eschew obfuscation

He who is past his prime
Feels his life has ceased to rhyme
Sees his future a steep climb
Never dares to get off the dime
Too afraid to walk on the slime
Frozen as if mantled with a rime
Does nothing but blame it on time

He who is in his heyday
Has no shame to betray
Who, for him, smoothed the way
And let him hit the bull’s eye
Considering time to be a reliable ally
Alas! “No Mercy” is coming his way
Carrying his own doomsday

The missing piece

Where is the missing piece of jigsaw?

There is always one nagging thought

Like there is something missing

Like a missing link,

One day I will find it

It will fit perfectly into place

Like the missing jigsaw piece,

It will appear one day for me to see

If only I knew what the missing link was

I could find a solution and action this,

Until then I will have the nagging thought

On my mind,

Still I will strive

To search and find,

The missing piece

That will fulfil my mind
