Introversion – Promote Yourself

introvert
I stand here quietly,
waiting, almost hoping
someone
from those bustling lunch tables
might soon take notice of me
My feet are nailed to the
linoleum floor,
each of my legs invisibly caught
like a sickly animal
wedged in a bear trap.
I am a chameleon, taking on shades
of the vending machine
the trash can
the muted walls
Waves of laughing faces
break
into the sea of students
in front of me, unaware of my
silhouette before them.
I dip my feet into the water
eventually; I sit on a rock
barely touched
by the rough waves
and wait

Days in Orvieto – Promote Yourself

godly
He came to the old city hoping to heal, some way,

how who knows.

He was mad. Someone had told him
that Cesare Borgia’s face
was in the painting by Luca, in the Duomo.
This is mainly why he came.
For a number of times he went in the chapel
studying all the faces,
one by one.
Then, from the wonder, Cesare emerged,
the eyes in flame.
And it was all his life.

A Mistake – Promote Yourself

alone
When nothing was alright,

She preferred to escape everyone’s sight

Scared, she might take it out on someone else,

Solitary moments she chose over being with everyone else

Down, with teared up eyes

No one knew the pain she bore or heard her cries

Until one day, the sky cleared

And, happened something she most feared

Said things, she regretted the next instant

But the damage was done; the person was distant

Lost the chance to apologize in ire

And soon died down the fire

When tried to make things right

Unfortunately, broke out a fight

All blue, because a friend she lost

And was reluctantly paying the cost

For she made, on a gloomy day,
