Who am I? – Promote Yourself

 Frown smile

Who am I?

Who was I?

Who will I be?

I am simple yet complex

I am imperfectly perfect

I am everything I’m not

I frown through my smile

Laugh through my pain

Hurt through my joy

Who am I?

Who was I?

Who will I be?

I fear who I trust

I understand what I can’t

I am where I’m not

I love when I hate

I know why yet I don’t

Who am I?

Who was I?

Who will I be?

My lies tell the truth

While my truth spreads the lies

I am everything but nothing

Dead and alive

Who am I?

Who was I?

Who will I be?

From nothing to something

The knowledge I’ve gained

From something to nothing

Years of happiness and pain

I’ve lost though I’ve won

The end has just begun

So for now, I say farewell

To others, Hello

Which way am I going?

Which way should I go?

Who am I?

Who was I?

Who will I be?

My fate’s in your hands

For it’s you I may be

Little One -Promote Yourself

lost
I cried
When I heard
You were lost again

It took so long
To find you
Last time

Exploring the paths
Of your broken mind
Don’t stray too far

Come back to us soon.

If I had words I would use them
To tell you all that I know
My thoughts and feelings
What lies deep within, but….
The language eludes me
So I laugh and I cry
I reach and I grab
I look to you for all that I know
Eye to eye
Skin to skin
You are my everything.

The Children of Gaza -Promote Yourself

gazz

I lie awake in the peacefulness of my bedroom

My neighborhood is quiet, sleeping soundly

No rockets, no gunfire, no army to fear

Only the dead empty faces of my society looms around me

I think about the innocent, the children and families of Gaza

Why does humanity destroy one another?

Lies, deceit, bloodshed will not end

Til we stop fearing one another and make amends

Hamas, like the new Dog Soldiers from times past

The Native peoples who defended their lands

The Cheyenne warriors who lashed out against genocide

They fought to protect their people from carnage

Neither side is just in violence and revenge

But what does one do when you are outnumbered?

Outgunned, and utterly defenseless you will flee or fight

When your back is against the wall, you feel there is no choice

My people, America, blind and confused

They do not see the truth, they are not told reality

The witnesses are the only truth tellers

They will ensure that the story is declared

While we watch movies, shop, eat, and drink

Death comes swiftly to those who are helpless

Unprotected and powerless against the machine

Mother Earth cries out for mercy and cease

Til no more death and crime awaits

Let us remember, learn, and uphold

Truth, justice, and love above all else

Never forget the faces of the innocent

Their blood, their sacrifice, their debt to us all

For killing begets killing but sometimes it is near

Near to us all, more so than we will ever know

Fisherman’s Prayer

fish
I pray that I may live to fish
Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord’s great landing net
And peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.

Abou Ben Adhem – YOUR FAVOURITE POEM

james

Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight in his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,
An angel writing in a book of gold:—
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the Presence in the room he said
“What writest thou?”—The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered “The names of those who love the Lord.”
“And is mine one?” said Abou. “Nay, not so,”
Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerly still, and said “I pray thee, then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men.”

The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blessed,
And lo! Ben Adhem’s name led all the rest.
