Poor creatures, a notoriety undeserved
to be saddled with the stigma of “crazy as…”
what is a Christian if not crazy?
we believe in things we cannot see
see things that convey more than speech can express
hear a word or two…
that can illuminate the deepest darkest of caves
witness to “Living Water” till we become hoarse
lead others’ to a well
empty cup in hand
but cannot make em’ think
know something we don’t?
they break no laws
depend solely on what The Lord provides
commit no sins
of all creatures, why loons?
other creatures have equally curious characteristics
why single out loons
simply because of peculiarities in mating rituals?
are we any better?
the only difference is…
ours occur in private (most of the time)
What does any of this have to do with anything Christian, Biblical, or of any deeper meaning?
it is a matter of perspective…
when one is “crazy as a loon”
What is a sound mind for that matter?
is it the pretense of conforming to fit in?
passive aggressive cowardice, disguised as normalcy,
seeking validation from the same?
Bolstering one another’s facades bracing against cave-ins?
too afraid to let go of properties physical, mental, spiritual,
attributable to intellect but calling it Faith?
Loving the life self-consciously constructed while losing it one brick at a time?
or losing one’s life for the sake of Whom gave us life…in order to gain it?
oh…oh…Scripture slipped in, it happens when one is a Christian.
even when you attempt to say it differently, there’s just no denying it.
Who wants to hear it?
certainly not anyone who can’t
try as hard as they may.
Loons are loons…pretty simple really.
effortless to be what you really are.
the hardest work has already been done for us.
by Grace we can freely embrace whatever we are called to be.
when The Spirit moves…
such as this drivel of an offering,
going deeper and deeper into unfathomable depths
emerging befuddled by what greets us…
as we cross a threshold unbeknownst
past the boundaries of insanity
the ball is now in your court dear reader
