No-one should try to impose their will upon another,
They should simply try to point the way,
For if we think our way of life is better,
This should be reflected in everything we do and say.
Other people will take notice of everything we do,
They will notice if our deeds match the things which are professed,
If they do then our influence will be effective,
If not, they are unlikely to be impressed.
It is far better to try and lead by example,
Hoping that folk will admire the things we do,
To show that we really believe the things we say,
Rather than seeking to impose our point of view.
We should never pretend to be something we are not,
For very few people will ever be deceived,
It’s far better to act as the person we really are,
Then our views are more likely to be received.
Every day we have an opportunity to convey the truth,
Not just by words, but by everything we are seen to do,
We can only impose our will upon another
If we can influence them to accept our point of view.

I Am Nobody Else But Me – Promote Yourself

I am nobody else,
and everyone else is not me.
I am who I was created to be,
unique in essence and beauty.
I am not you,
and you are not me.
There’s no need to be like each other.
We each have a different purpose, you see.
There is no standard of who I should be
except Christ alone.
There is no mould
for me.
There is no logic comparing myself
with someone
who is not
I am only one,
and this one is enough.
I am enough for the One who has called me
to be me.
There is one me.
There is one you.
Let us rejoice in how we are created,
and live life anew.

Leave me to being – Promote Yourself

Thanksgiving has been over
for at least a week or two,
but we’re all still eating turkey,
turkey salad, turkey stew, turkey puffs and turkey pudding,
turkey patties, turkey pies,
turkey bisque and turkey burgers,
turkey fritters, turkey fries.

For lunch, our mother made us
turkey slices on a stick,
there’ll be turkey tarts for supper,
all this turkey makes me sick.

For tomorrow she’s preparing
turkey dumplings stuffed with peas,
oh I never thought I’d say this —
“Mother! No more turkey… PLEASE!”

The Snowman

There’s a strange man

In my garden

With top hat and tails

He is looking rather pale

He’s been standing there

For some time now

Just standing and staring

And looking all around

He very often smiles

But doesn’t often frown

The squirrels and the fox’s

All adore him

As they pass by

He lifts his hand

To wave at them

And smiles to say goodnight
