I was told to write a poem for love
a delicate subject, so fragile but high
in tears I imagine you, a treasure so divine
when prismatic from heaven you arrive.
Your innocent gaze, your white skin
hold me breathless, my lips shivered
my hands only longing for touching your chin
your hair rounded your cheek smoothly delivered…
How can I write about a love to you
our firm souls so much entwined
we, who met first after a long pursuit
and still my close beloved, you are not mine.
Two we are in bodies, time and place
two in longing two in each of finding pleasure
although you feed me daily with your grace
I must in every movement, weigh and measure.
So still is the song I got, to lengthen my day
while I, strew words of a weeping poem
could I ever be the Crown to praise your way
or will I ever be an everlasting proem.
I close my eyes, I close my lips, my looks
my task has been accomplished
I wrote a poem for love to you, you are my book
my languish outlive what I holy promised.
