Guy Fawkes
It’s just one night
A burning desire
To burn Guy Fawkes
On a blazing fire,
Celebrations light up the sky
Colourful fireworks shoot up high
Blues, Pinks, Greens and red
Celebrating each year of his death,
Around the fire hundreds stare
Watching the embers fade
Quietly putting Guy Fawkes to rest

EASTER
Newly hatched eggs
Bring little chicks,
Bouncing lambs
And new born pigs
We hunt for eggs
And tasty sweets,
Chocolate bunnies
Lots of treats.
New sunny days
The winter has gone,
Colourful flowers
A bright spring sun.
Bright red skies
New things to see
Loving the Springtime
Feeling free.

Dear Mother
Mother, daughter, friend, or foe
I want you to always know,
You are forever my best friend
From past to present, until the end,
You help me using your guiding hand
All you did I now understand
All the good times all the bad
The days of laughter, the days we were sad,
We helped each other when we could
Just the way best friends should,
You’ve helped me through when times were rough
I tried to be there when times were tough,
No matter what you are here
You help me conquer every fear,
You listen and help day by day
Through my mistakes, you led the way,
When times are hard I think of you
I wonder what you would do
No matter what, you are here
You always were there to care,
Memories I hold close to my chest
For these memories are my best,
So I am thanking you for being a friend
My best friend until the end.

hello Pants” – Promote Yourself
From baby to toddler in the blink of an eye,
The last stage is hard I’m not gonna lie
The nappies need to go, say “hello pants”
Might be too soon but I’ll take the chance.
A short time naked whilst watching cartoons,
I’ve shown you the potty at the side of the room
I keep on asking “do you need a wee?”
A minute later the floor’s covered in pee.
But all you want to do is play
I encourage you as much as I can,
Pants with cars, and praise, “come on lil man”.
So much pride I felt the first time I saw
You did a wee but this time not on the floor,
Such a big boy doing more and more
It won’t be long now, of that I’m sure.
Months later you want the toilet instead
Still a few accidents as I’d expect,
But then comes the day you manage to stay dry
Even on a trip out with distractions close by.
The best day so far, I pray for many more
Days with no nappies and no wee on the floor,
Now you’re a big boy, my baby has gone
I couldn’t be more proud of how well you have done

Flowers of love
I thought to tell you the way I feel
But knew I didn’t know how,
So I send these flowers to show instead
I hope they’ll do for now
This flower I send to show my love,
A coral rose to show my desire
Your name is now across my heart,
The only one that I admire
The pink carnations I give to you,
To show I will never forget you
I love you now till the end of time,
I know I will forever be true
To show you this I spend lemon blossom,
So you know to trust in me
For now our hearts are forever entwined,
We will always be
The last flower for you my love,
I send to show your loveliness
The camellia is just for you
From the angels watching above us.

Pleasure Vs. pressure
The moments of life all add up
Some of it planned,
Most of it pot luck
The stress we receive builds up the pressure,
As we spend our lives,
Seeking all pleasures
The pleasure of love, fun and laughter
The pressures of the past,
Present and after,
But each life is different in every way
Seems like the same old story,
Just on a different day.

Dreams
Rest your head and close your eyes
I will sing you a lullaby
Clear your head of all your thoughts
Ease your mind of worrying sorts,
Drift off into a peaceful dream
Imagine the beautiful things you’ve seen,
Float on a fluffy cloud above
Where nothing matters but the ones you love,
Think of all tomorrows fun
Soon will rise the morning sun.

NOTTINGHAM POET
BROKEN BROLLIES
Where are all the broken brollies?
They have all been left in the streets
In Nottingham, all bent and broken
After all the snow, rain and wind has gone
I saw a Council man with a trolley
Picking up all of those broken brollies,
So now I know where they have all gone
The Council man picked up every one
They say in London
The streets are paved with gold,
In Nottingham the streets are filled
With broken brollies
The shops are empty
The brollies have all been sold
Now what will shelter us
From the rain and the cold?

A New Beginning – Promote Yourself
The anticipation has come to an end,
It’s almost time to meet our new friend,
It’s 2 in the morning, the pain kicks in,
Here he comes, his life will soon begin,
I am scared stiff, what lies ahead?
Screaming out in the hospital bed,
The pain is so bad just want him here,
I have never felt so much fear,
25 hours later he’s in my arms
Hoping and praying he comes to no harm,
His big blue eyes and cute little face
Look up at me to say,
How did I get to this place?
I promise him right there and then,
I will love him forever, until the end.

Christmas desire
-
December brings us,
Christmas time
This time of year,
Is so divine
We come together,
For family games
We stuff ourselves,
With candy canes
Under the tree,
It’s presents galore
The city turns white,
Let the snow pour
The streets and houses,
Covered in lights
Everywhere you look,
There’s sweet delights
We always feel stuffed,
Too much food
The Christmas spirits,
Put us in a great mood
Our stockings hung,
Over the glowing fire
Did Santa bring you,
Your desire. -

Bump – Promote Yourself
The shock when I saw two pink lines,
The tears of confusion, what to do now,
Am I happy or sad, am I ready for this?
Our lives will change, suddenly a future with kids,
There’s no choice the bond is already strong,
Now praying that nothing goes wrong,
Now it’s all exciting, is it a girl or boy?
I cannot wait to meet our little bundle of joy.
