Lovely Memories

baking day

Beautiful fragrances and
Aromas linger and last
Stay in the mind from times long past,
The smallest thing awakens
Them to be recalled
Passing a bakery a child once more,
Aroused by the warm smell
Drifting through the door,
Mothers baking day
varieties of cakes galore
In a queue a fragrance
A delicate sweet smell,
Triggers your nose your senses
There’s your lovely granny with
Her glass bottle of cream,
Rubbing it into her hands
Easing hard work they had seen
Still a wonderful reflection
Of past presents itself
Yet again so real,
The most precious aroma
I forever bring to mind
Is the first time bathing my baby
Such a wonderful fresh smell,
New life clean glowing
Not long from the womb
A memory to last enjoy for my baby,
Will soon grow from this sweet
Smelling bundle, then away
From me far too soon

The Rain

The wet shiny glistening droplets
Appear like jewels

Sprinkled on the window pane
Rapping like a thousand birds saying,
‘listen to the rain’
Across the sky a formation

Of colours start to form,
Building up to a rainbow
The aftermath of storm,
Behind a distant cloud

Peeps the round globe of the sun
Sending heat drying the earth,
Also tear-like droplets are sent

flushing, like washing life’s troubles

To ground then to grate,
For that is all they are worth.

Pastures New

With tints of grey in the sky
Brave yet unsure

Of dawn and all its glory,
New dreams await with passion

The poet with a story,
So pen to pad lets once again

Greet the day anew,
Sunflowers swaying glistening
Moist from new dawns dew,
Other thoughts can wait awhile
I know he would agree,
He would want me kneeling

Tending plants and flowers smiling,
Not crying on my knees

MY LITTLE VISITOR

Hello little robin
wearing your scarlet red vest
how dainty yet proud you are
seeking food for your nest

the feeders are flowing
fresh seed to the brim
so go call the others to come delve in

Now perched on the bird bath looking fully fed
surveying surroundings for your next daily bread
please  please visit again little bird for you
  bring comfort I feel safe
with thoughts of someone so loved and missed can’t come

sends you to me in his place

NOTTINGHAM POET

THE LADY

      some people in our lives
can’t be thanked enough for things they
do you see they are being themselves
  Rebecca you are one
from the bible I will treasure you and your name
The lady as my son refered to her
since and always I will do the same
a very special lady
beyond being a nurse
your voice I still hear so wonderful
like an angel sent from heaven
placed here to help on earth
I thank you from myself my son
for being who you are
not a nurse much more by far
on us first meeting im sure
our dear lord released a special star
for the comfort we received in my sons
hour of need
was definitely sent by a higher power

        through Rebecca

The rain by sanda cameron

My legacy

The sun doesn’t feel the same any more

But it helps to dry my tears,

Someone is missing from my life

Who has been there for years and years,

My laughter is not the same any more

It doesn’t come from the heart,

Only a mother understands how I feel

When with their child they have to part,

You left me a priceless legacy son

Of love and stories untold,

Of how life is and how it should be

That is worth more to me than gold
