MY LITTLE VISITOR

Hello little robin
wearing your scarlet red vest
how dainty yet proud you are
seeking food for your nest

the feeders are flowing
fresh seed to the brim
so go call the others to come delve in

Now perched on the bird bath looking fully fed
surveying surroundings for your next daily bread
please  please visit again little bird for you
  bring comfort I feel safe
with thoughts of someone so loved and missed can’t come

sends you to me in his place

NOTTINGHAM POET

Stealth

Your cold and wet and shiver

As you crawl through the bush

Hungry and confused as you try not to rush

Creep past the gate, don’t set off the light

You’d seal your fate with one mistake and ruin your whole damn night

You’ve worked so hard to cross the yard and now you’re at the door

Reaching for the handle, nerves twitch for sweat to pour

You’ve come so far, at the door, time to take your chance

Slip inside and try to hide from footsteps that advance

With a stumble on the rug, you fall upon your face

With no-one here to help you, you’re flat out like a snake

Feeling like a fool, you give your nose a rub,

You’ve been caught red-handed, sneaking from the pub!

Winter

Winter

winter tree

I am winter,
Coldest season,
If you’re looking for a reason,
Skiing sledding,
sled
Leafless trees,
Skate on ice,
No sign of bees…
The Earth has tilted,
From the sun,
Days are short,
But still such fun…
Put some gloves,
On your hands,
Enjoy my winter wonderland!

August showers

August showers

Watering the flowers

No sun in sight

Staying in tonight,

People rushing

To miss the raindrops

Staying longer in the shops

Cold feet and hands

Where people stand

Waiting for the rain to ease,

Catching colds in the August breeze

August showers

So much power

Flooding to come

It’s raining again,

Let’s run
