Goose Fair
A convoy of pleasure and excitement
That descends on the city at night
Carrying fantastic rides of joy
Of exhilarating experience and delight
Piece by piece are assembled
Like a jigsaw they all fit together
Working to be ready on time
Working through all kinds of weather
The skyline of Nottingham changes
A jungle of lights and steel
Sideshows and rides
Not forgetting the Big Wheel
Then the opening day arrives
A ritual that is part of the fair
Then the bell will be rung
And a speech from the Lord Mayor
The noise from the loud speakers
The aroma from cooking meals
Candyfloss, hot peas and balloons
Anticipation, excitement and squeals
A night of breathtaking beauty
A kaleidoscope of dazzling display
Everyone will enjoy the experience
Until it’s dismantled and taken away.

BANK HOLIDAY
Bank holiday has come
We’re off to seaside
To have some fun,
Let’s get sand in our shoes
Bucket and spades
Pick up the lemonade
Sand castles are made,
The seafront is paved with
Fish and chips and candy floss,
Let’s spend our money
in the penny slots,
Paddling pools and donkey rides
Bank holiday has come
We had some holiday fun,
So on the bus and homeward bound
How many seashells have we found?

Goose fair poems
As soft as clouds, as pink as a rose, the smell of the candy floss won’t leave your nose.
It’s like a sky scraper standing proud and tall, though when I am in it I feel very small.
Whizzing as fast as the speed of light, I get a headache as I watch the sight. (Written by Megan King)
Rides spinning round and round, getting closer to the ground.
Sounding like volcanoes erupting. (Written by Adrian Wagstaffe )
The bright lights hit her head with a bang!
She wandered over to the food van.
Rides whizzing past.
As she queues up for one rather fast. (Written by Isobel Pye)
The candy floss is oh so nice, you will have to eat it twice! ( Written by Holli-Ann Beer)
EVEN SCHOOL KIDS ARE GETTING THE POETRY BUG
SO COME TO NOTTINGHAM AND HAVE SOME FUN AT THE NOTTINGHAM GOOSE FAIR
Mystique and magical fun
Wow it is Goose Fair
Where I have arrived
A magical land
Full of glistening jewels,
That stands before my eyes
Every one lit up like
Diamonds in a crown
Like a rainbow in the sky,
The beauty is all around
Like a magnetic field,
It beckons me
To the mystique of the big wheel,
I follow the crystals
One by one,
Every one a different colour
Enticing me to discover,
Each and every ride
Is mystique and magical fun

Is it the end ?
The clock strikes twelve the end has come
The beer, the lager, and the whisky has gone
But it is not the end
But a new beginning
The start of a brand new year
For everyone,
2012 and the world’s having fun
A year for all new things to be done
A new job, to earn a few bob,
New seeds to sow, then see them grow
Is something we did a year ago
So happy new year to everyone
Because a new year just begun
