My broken heart

I have a broken heart

That I have tried so hard to mend

I placed all of my trust in you

I thought you were my friend,

You took your love away

And gave it someone else

I’m now left with a broken heart

That I’ve placed upon the shelf,

Each day I try to repair it

The pieces are scattered everywhere

It will be so hard to mend,

But I’m not going anywhere

So each day I will continue

To fix my broken heart,

Though you will always try

To tear me apart

I hope your new love

keeps her heart intact,

Because,

The truth is…

I never want you back

Lest we forget

Have we forgotten their ultimate sacrifice?
Of these men and women who died in their millions?
Brave and true, without question,
proud to be British, not ashamed to be Christian.

So many years have passed,
it seems our memory doesn’t last.
Forgetting these courageous people, to our shame.
Why can’t we remember their names?

How short is our memory?
That we have forgotten them already?
Died in their millions fighting for our freedom,
believing in our free democratic ideology.

What does it take to wake up this country,
to rise once again from its complacency?
How much more do we take, before we decide to fight,
for our beliefs, our traditions and our liberty?

STOLEN HANDS – Promote Yourself

handsxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sunday Evening…
All ready I’ve
Suffered enough
Of this
Incurable
Hopeless rage.
I sit
To try and write it out
My feelings flowing
From blood
To words
On this unforgiving page.

See I once
Held hands
That i
Stole
While i plotted lives
With a cold hearted
Grace.
Now my hands
Lie
Only to my
Own skin
The punishment
I deserve
There is no longer
Solace in a
Beautiful face.

I betrayed
My own
Beating innocence
It is now
A cold dead tomb
In which i am burdened
By its weight
With dark skies
And overdue consequences
Time has finally caught on
The price of lies
I’ve discovered
Is beauty
Returning
As hate.

Thank you for the flowers

Thank you for the flowers,

Their fragrance smelt so sweet,

Your kindness I will treasure,

Until once more we meet.

The sorrow you have shown,

The tears that you have shed,

No words need be spoken,

For in those tears all was said.

Try to understand,

That life will carry on,

My spirit has entered a better place,

Although my bodies gone.

My life must continue,

To achieve the very best,

But first I must compose myself,

And take a well earned rest.

Such a lot to do,

Of that I am sure,

For time does not stand still,

But carries on for ever more.

Flowers of love

I thought to tell you the way I feel

But knew I didn’t know how,

So I send these flowers to show instead

I hope they’ll do for now

This flower I send to show my love,

A coral rose to show my desire

Your name is now across my heart,

The only one that I admire

The pink carnations I give to you,

To show I will never forget you

I love you now till the end of time,

I know I will forever be true

To show you this I spend lemon blossom,

So you know to trust in me

For now our hearts are forever entwined,

We will always be

The last flower for you my love,

I send to show your loveliness

The camellia is just for you

From the angels watching above us.

Can you live in a home of wretchedness? – Promote Yourself

hello, I have poem that I would like you to promote on your successful blog, if you wouldn’t mind doing so.

its called “can you?” by myself, Tatiana Agatha Ennin.

my friend, Dajon Hoyte-Bruce and I run the poetry blog known as “ourpoeticinsanity.wordpress.com” just for reference

You could bathe in a tub of cloudy tears to keep your mind “clean”…

You could feed yourself false propositions to oppose the hunger in your heart…

You could keep yourself warm with the scalding words that his tongue produced…

You could dress yourself in an attire of which consisted of a burden balanced on your head,

A weakened covering to protect your chafed, run down, calloused feet,

An emotional scarf weaved from the fibres of hardship, guilt, confusion and doubt.

Wrapped chokingly tight

around your neck.

To protect yourself from the cold air striking and reaching your chest.

Your chapped mouth…

And

Your insensitive nose.

?

Can you ever die in a home of wretchedness?

You could strangle yourself with the ropes that restricted you from trusting and feeling emotion.

You could hang yourself with the words that lifelessly and meaninglessly dangled from your lip.…

You stand on the boulder of corruption.

Hoping to majestically land on the base of which an overabundance of reliability and

inhabitation existed on…

You jump,

And wonder if you’re committing one of society’s most conventional motives.

You took the leap of something that would offer you ‘faith’.

You gracefully took the leap of death.

I would also appreciate it greatly if you gave me any personal feedback or response, via email. As I am a budding poet, aged 14 and I could definitely use some mature response.

thank you.

Hands – villanelle – Promote Yourself

Holding hands with someone special
Such electricity flowing between both
Creating memories that last much longer.

We hold hands with many as we grow
There comes a time when we have more
Holding hands with someone special.

Thoughts return to bring us even closer
Remember a touch or a smell that excites
Creating memories that last much longer.

Feelings grow and we just seem to know
When fingers lace together without thought
Holding hands with someone special.

For some it is might last only a day

Occasionally we find someone special
Creating memories that last much longer.

A lifetime can seem to be summed up
Looking back at all those moments shared
Holding hands with someone special
Creating memories that last much longer.

The grey cloud did cover

Everybody’s trying each other out
Spring lifts the hope of a tout
He acts the part
No belief in gain, but some fresh start
Perhaps a shout louder
And day seems to cheapen around her

Lifting the eyes of the tout
Tired, old guy out
She plays his heart
Doubt no part her life’s art
Perhaps her head might fit his shoulder
Thoughts for when older

Though, his eyes, they go out
A tied, old tried out
No time for this tart
Job description third part
A numb shout of his brother
The grey cloud did cover.

Solo

I am the one

Who sat upon

The highest cliff

Reaching out to

To the loudest waves

When a man approached me

Smiling,

Though his eyes were sad

He needed someone to talk to,

I did not acknowledge him,

It was at that moment

A teardrop crept from his eye,

Falling and crashing deep into the waves

He followed,

Leaving no trace

When he jumped into the waves,

Silence clung

Like a glove,

All I could feel was his pain

Around my heart

Still…

I remain solo

I wish I had spent the time

To talk to him,

The stranger that I ignored

I wish I had been brave enough,

To hear what he had to say

I was his last hope

Now I will never know

The hurt he held inside

I will never know,

How many times he had cried

About whatever secret he held inside

Why his tear drops fell

Into the hungry waters,

Whilst I sat upon the highest cliff

Reaching out to the loudest waves,

Still I remain solo

We Are Not Alone

lovesssssssss
We are not alone
Although we might feel we are
Even in the midst of darkness
We all are observed from afar

For in that distance land of beauty
Where our spirit friends reside
Times when we feel vulnerable
When we have sat down and cried

For we all have a link of love
That is placed within each heart
It’s energy within our spirit
Knowing that we are never apart

Take from that energy of love
Where ever you may roam
Feel the love it contains
Knowing that you are not alone

When her heart sprouted wings – Promote Yourself

wings

If hearts were like feathers,
Hers was the lightest,
it caught the vividest
aspirations,
she roamed
in a  world,
made of  those
dreams.
She reached for love,
She reached for colour…
In a bed of thorns
She was the only flower…
She danced with death,
her laughter;her power…
LIFE became her lover
when her heart sprouted wings.

THE LIGHT – Promote Yourself

My darling
My beautiful one
Why did you leave
I was gone only in the physical sense
I’d never leave you
I told you that in those,
my
final hours.
All you had to do was listen to the beat of your heart
and you’d know
I was with you.
I’m always with you.
Why have you travelled to this place
You knew what you were doing
what you were giving up
when you signed that….
register.
Travelled far
Used the last of our bond
to be able to breath into you
once more.
I have nothing left now
the last between us
is dying.
My darling
I felt your pain
I battled as hard as I could to stay
In the end the body gave in
You knew we would be together….
One day,
In a place where time
does not exist
You had to wait though
Now look what you have done
what you have given
to them
In order to try and somehow
ease my pain,
You cannot cross from there.
whatever they promised
It cannot be given
My darling
if there is any chance
of you finding your way back
I breath it to you
in the darkness of
your solitude
I give you
the last few colours
of
my final light……..

Walking by Landmarks

counrysidexxxxxxxxxx
~
I took a walk outside the other day
And realized the world has remained the same
The fields are changing as the
Clouds build their quiet momentum
But the stroll is a similar cadence
One can never be moving too soon
While in life missing steps
Would be
A bit nerve wracking
~
I took a walk outside the other day
Skies with their hue of golden blues
Will always brighten my day
Even as the wind’s ice take form
I seek a quiet comfort internally
Only to recognize again
The sudden calm’s change
Might be
A tad unrelenting
~
I took a walk outside the other day
And questioned what occurs
When my mind begins to sway
Off course into a never-land
Of energy no less endearing
Yet driven by our world’s demands.
Could be
A new awakening
~
I took a walk outside the other day
And when I listened to the sweet melody
Of simple pleasure in nature’s Grace
I could imagine a peace
A love of beauty and delight
Shed all aspects of the past
Only to relish a newer day again
Will we
Ever make allowances
~
I took a stroll while on a new avenue today
Noted the people’s intent to thrive in the gray

A PLACE WHERE LOVE BEGINS – Promote Yourself

reachingxxxxxx

Not in the past where your tempests raged;
Or in the future, when unknown forces could shatter dreams;
Not in your soul, skewered by hatred and resentment;
Only in the present, as an open heart awaits.

Not by running from what is given;
Or hiding in bitterness and acrid thoughts;
Not in your head, where too many goals are left unfulfilled;
Only in hope, not beyond your reach.

Not in innocence lost or violence found;
Or misguided battles, conflicts unresolved;
Not in your body, ravaged with time and pain;
Only in forgiveness of yourself.

Not in others’ perceptions of who you are;
Or finding reasons to run from promise;
Not in your losses, though hard to bear;
Only in taking her hand; reaching for the sun.

Marry me that way – Promote Yourself

recognition

Come with me to my parents
Sit on an African stool
And stretch out your legs
Drink from a calabash
And refresh your soul
Marry me that way

Let the whole family see you
Let them ask you who you are
Tell them your intentions for me
Marry me that way

Set the drinks before my parents
Let them ask you why you are here
Let me watch your heart beat fast
Because you want to impress
Marry me that way

Watch as my family accepts your drinks
And welcome you to the family
Watch as they start calling you;
In-law, Son, uncle, brother and friend
Marry me that way

I still miss you – promote Yourself

There are days,
When I miss you
With a sudden intensity
Which surprises me.

It aches, in a way I didn’t deem possible,
In a heart, I didn’t know I possessed.
And I lie in this room feigning sleep.
Pining away, struggling with my existence.
While I choke from these strange arms enveloping me.

Should I strive, in vain, for you, most divine?
Or should I instead, be miserably content with what’s mine?

ALL FACETS – Promote Yourself

I’m trying to attach
Meaning to you like a door with no latch
Or me without you on my mind, how can I explain that

                                                                           I’ll

always love you no
matter your issues
I’ll hug & kiss you
comfort with soft tissues

What

Other words can I say or you to me
When you’re the epidemy
of where love should be
Cause there’s never any riddle to be solved
I know where my heart truly belongs

I

Smile out loud
How can that be…well you’ve shown me how
With all facets of your beauty that I want now
I write, you read as it all comes out
My pen turns us singular into a noun

One

picture & thought with no sound
With many years of internal feelings written down
just thinking about you on my sofa
typing away wishing that you were closer
written from my feelings for you in my mental folder
as i cater to your emotions till the night is over
