Nature’s Mirrors – Promote Yourself

battlellllllllllllll

Puddles on the pavement,
pools of light beneath brooding skies,
reservoirs of captured rain,
unique displays of movement,
as brilliant white swirls through oily black,
and the storm erases memories of the sun.

A flash of colour, of life, as I pass,
there a moment, but gone now, forever,
a puddle has no memory,
and life is brief in nature’s mirrors.

Next, I pause a while, transfixed,
staring into shallow depths,
imagination runs wild, searching,
knowing only tarmac resides,
yet seeing other rippled worlds,
over my distorted gargoyles face,
perhaps a warning, a guardian?
Fantasies, devoid of reality,
removed from my mind, as
only a mind’s eye has power here,
lost in the moment, drawn down,
lured into the murky lagoon,
where incubus and angels do battle.

Lightning flashes now,
breaks the spell, smashes melancholy,
I surface once more,
gasping for stifled air,
haunting images, crystal in clarity.

I am back, yet will I remember that,
which nature’s mirror will not?”

THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

beam of lightxxxxxxxxxxxx

As I looked into the sky,
I saw a beam of light,
It shone directly over me,
So beautiful and bright,
I looked in amazement,
As the light surveyed the ground,
Sweeping back and forth,
Searching all around.

The light had many colours,
Of reds, blues, and green,
A spectacle of brilliance,
The most beautiful ever seen.
Then from within its beauty,
A symphony of sound was heard,
Filling the air with music,
My very spirit stirred.

A haunting sound of peace,
Filled my heart with love,
Creating an hypnotic trance,
As the light shone from above.
I felt so warm and comfortable,
Bathed in that beautiful light,
Drawn to the end of the tunnel,
To a light that burnt so bright.

At the end of the tunnel,
Was a soul so gentle and meek?
Welcoming a lonely traveller,
Bemused I could not speak.
Welcome to the world of spirit,
This gentle soul he said,
For you have left the material,
Your body on earth is dead.

Now your spirit life is eternal,
And in time will expand and grow,
But now is the time to rest,
To be surrounded by all you know.
Enjoy your life on the material,
Put thoughts of death behind,
Be tolerant with one another,
So all will have peace of mind.

For me my earthly life has ended,
But my loved ones I will be near,
To help in times of torment,
To elevate all fear.
Rest assured my spirits free,
Free from all earthly pain,
So be strengthened in that knowledge
For we all shall meet again.

THE MELODY OF BIRTH

HO! I greet you on this new day
I am here, on wings of melody & light
This birth thus sets me on my way
The music keeping the cosmos within sight
The sounds of life take me to a new height
I thank you for the melody & the gift of the voice
So I greet you on this new day

THE CHILD SPEAKS (ONCE)

The eyes of a child are filled with wonder
Enchanted by all there is to see
How I long to live, to command the thunder
To be as king, and humble servant to be
For the Voice shapes the cosmos, the land & sea
No matter how tall, strong, how I make my choice
The eyes of a child always filled with joy

SECRETS

Shadows of the season don’t comfort today
For I know I face a mountain tomorrow
And I know tomorrow must come what may
With all it’s bountiful promises of sorrow
The child now speaks, words, that ring as hollow
The Voice is distant, and gives no reason to rejoice
The shadows cannot comfort today

LOST

Lost wisdom now has forsaken me
I tread a path with timid steps & a heavy heart
I have been graced, but will not see
And ears that refuse to hear what the Voice imparts
The road I’m on tears me apart
I’m on my knees, tears streaming for the Voice
Lost wisdom has forsaken me

FULL CIRCLE (THE CHILD SPEAKS TWICE)

Those eyes of wonder open once again
Ears once deaf now are ready to hear
To the void, all my doubts I abandon
Now I know I have nothing to fear
I welcome the Voice, for now I can hear
The child speaks twice, he has made his choice
And those eyes of wonder open once again…

enjoy, and thanks for the opportunity to display my work!
cheers

THE MEANING OF IT ALL – Promote Yourself

shipsxxxxxxx

When the light
shines on you just right
i can see our sailing souls on this ship
everything else is dark, but our emotions stay lit
as you walk through my emotional shores i see your foot prints

Headed

Directly to my soul on any given weekday or weekend
you’re leisure time during the evening
i’m full of substance, yet you make me feel weakened
no words needed to be spoken
cause this isn’t a game ; so there are no tokens
my doors are normally closed , but for you it’s open

Sometimes

I wish i would of never allowed you in
to my ocean with no life vest to swim
i put all my thoughts & feelings on the line
knowing that my passion towards you means everything

You’ve

Shown me confidence & how it feels to win
& i show you the simplicity of love minus the burden
with nothing else to be heard
cause you’re the space between my words
seduction & action to all my verbs

With

You there is no you vs them
even if my ink pen
has gone dry these feelings will never reach an END

LIGHT A CANDLE

candle

It is far better to light a candle than to curse the darkness
It’s what an old Chinese proverb has to say
Wise words which have come through the ages
Words that are still applicable in our lives today

For the light would illuminate the path we take
And reveal the pitfalls we could meet on our way
And by avoiding these we could reach our objective
And will ensure we enjoy our lives today

For it is better to light a candle to see where we are going
Than to journey to an object we clearly cannot see
That it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness
It’s the message that this proverb presents to you and me

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night- Famous Poets – What’s your favourite poem?

Image depicting Dylan Thomas smoking a cigar

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Dylan Thomas

SENT IN BY ninjacaity

Dylan Thomas poet
Dylan Marlais Thomas was a Welsh poet and writer who wrote exclusively in English. In addition to poetry, he wrote short stories and scripts for film and radio, which he often performed himself. His public readings, particularly in America, won him great acclaim; his sonorous voice with a subtle Welsh lilt became almost as famous as his works. His best-known works include the “play for voices” Under Milk Wood and the celebrated villanelle for his dying father, “Do not go gentle into that good night”. Appreciative critics have also noted the craftsmanship and compression of poems such as “In my Craft or Sullen Art”, and the rhapsodic lyricism in “And death shall have no dominion” and “Fern Hill”.
