The last Gunfighter

A strange old man stood at the bar

He wore an old black frock coat

And a black Stetson to match

A  rusty gun was strapped to his hip,

He turned and looked straight at me

With a smile and a wink,

He said “buy me a drink.”

He had a scar from ear to ear

That looked like he had a permanent grin,

”So  buy me drink” he said

With a cheeky wink,

He’s the local drunk

Who lives in the past of the old Wild West,

He says he’s a gunfighter the last of his breed,

So buy him a drink and lend him an ear

And he will tell you a tale about is past

When he rode with the best

Jesse James and Billy the kid,

Across the wild west

He’s says he’s a gunfighter the last of his breed

Then he walked to the door and into the street

He looked side to side

As  he goes for his gun

He’s caught by the sun,

Now he lays dead on the ground

A gunfighter the last of his breed

And  a  ghost from the past

The Biography Of An Ordinary Man – Promote Yourself

smokingxxxxxxxx

The flame passes over,
It can light a cigarette
and also end a marriage
He smiles at the irony
And inhales
Holds it in for that second too long
Slow suicide some call it
Idiots
We are all dying slowly
Life is a lottery
Only this one your number
Is guaranteed to come up.
He is not usually a morose guy
Just practical
Sees life for what it is
The moment when dreams die
And reality takes over
At that point
When dreams become truth,
Disappointment
Also brings an understanding .
He blows the smoke into the air
And toasts the understanding with life
You ground me down
I’ll give you that
But at least now
You’ll leave me alone.
At least he has this place
Not much
But really what do you need
A bed
A nice shade on the walls
And a record player.
Life has taken my dreams
But not my LP; s
Not even the wife got them
Funny
That’s all I wanted from her
But when I’m gone
Those boxes
Will be placed in a charity shop
No clue to their importance
No way of telling
How many tears
Ran side by side with the needle
That’s life I guess
The biography of an ordinary man.

The mid morning blues

You are sitting at your desk

Time for a well earned rest

To drink coffee or tea,

To look out of the window

Where there is plenty to see,

People rushing by

A man stares back at you

With a glint in his eye,

Then you hear a baby starting to cry

You notice a robin,

Perched by the water’s edge,

Weaving and bobbing to eat his bread

The clock strikes twelve

Your break has come to an end

Your coffee cup is empty

Still you cling to it, like it is your best friend,

The telephone is ringing

Your client awaits

You have redeemed all of your coffee breaks,

Until tomorrow looms

When you will once again

Meet the mid morning blues

If i wanted to be a lion and hang as tall as a tree i could, but that would be irrelevant can’t you see
I am a man, a wo-MAN, a fe-MALE so that would make us one … am i right?
I may not be a girl i may not be a boy i may just be a being living in a world
What is creativity if you look inside and see its understanding your subconscious self and questioning your reality
If we are made in God’s image and all Religions say God is creator then we are also creators, projecting our inner light called “creativity”
We can’t all be painters the world would be ugly! But we can all be creative and express ourselves individually
One colour on a pallet will make the plain paper look dry, but many colours on the paper will create a story of why?
Not wanting to be yourself will erase your story, paintings and more colours will manifest your glory
Beauty is individuality so express it and be proud even if others don’t like it at least you stand out from the crowd

The prophet

Some kids were in the Holy Land ,

And one old prophet walking by

‘Baldy!’ they shouted, Baldy!’

He didn’t care for their rude cry.

Such insults to a man of God!

At once he laid a curse

Upon the jeering wretches there-

Which, as it happened, was the worst

Thing they could have dreamed of.

For, as the curse came from his lips,

Two mother bears came from the woods.

Those kids had had their chips.

The cheeky lads were torn apart

To bits and bones and blood.

So much for mocking righteous men:

A fate much worse than Noah’s flood

“Of Wolf and Man”

Werewolves-werewolves-8012458-1024-640

Sun sets on humanity

Full moon on the rise

Lunar cycle returns me

Grisly truth I despise

Cast aglow in silvery radiance

Pins and needles prick the skin

Anticipation of the changing

My transformation will begin

Eyes run red and open wide

Crimson vision, wicked blood thirst

The hunger and the fury consume me

A dreadful existence, an evil curse

Moving swiftly I own the night

Nostrils flare and catch the scent

Unrelenting predator, frantic prey

A bounding leap, ending torment

Shaking and tearing, snarl and growl

Victim ceases thrashing, body goes slack

Meat from bone, blood spills to the earth

Expect no return from this savage attack

My insatiable hunger tempered once more

I howl at the moon with contented elation

Wishing this was my everlasting existence

“Of wolf and man” instead my surreal Damnation

The sun will rise again soon………

Thanks again PC for providing this outlet. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did writing it.

The Man – Promote Yourself

I just began following you today, and I love  the idea of being included in someone else’s blog. Proves that I’m not the only one who thinks my stuff is decent. 🙂 (Okay, I admit, some times I don’t even think it’s decent.)

I’ve included a handful of poems in this email. All are written by me, Trysh L. Thompson. I live in Kentucky, USA. Nothing really exciting about my existence. Some of the poems included have been posted, or are in queue, at my blog chromeprincess.wordpress.com.

Most of my poems deal with death, and it’s because of the slap in the face I had with it when I was 26. It’s changed my life forever

homeless-veteran

“Have you nothing to spare
To show this shriveled, homeless vet you care?
Twice-over I risked my life for you,
A complete stranger, but that’s just what soldiers do.
I watched my friends suffer and die,
As I continued to battle for you and I.
My friends’ lives were not in vain,
Think of that when you vote again.
Don’t you think I’ve tried everything before resorting to this –
Cold, alone, hungry, and homeless?
You would think there would be more out there for me
But they tell me I’m just a washed up soldier with PTSD.
So I’m reduced to begging on the streets,
Relying on the kindness of strangers for the smallest morsel to eat.”

I emptied my wallet, giving it all to the man,
As he took it, his touch lingered on my hand.
“Thank you, from the bottom of my heart,” said he,
“May God bless you as much as he’s blessed me.”

I never saw the old man asking for money again,
He died the next day, a drunken driver ran over him.
I still pass by that corner and smile,
That man taught me the most important lesson I’d learned in a while.

Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream

In the second year of his reign Nebuchadnezzar had a dream,
He called his magicians, astrologers, sorcerers and Chaldeans to provide an
explanation,
Unfortunately for them he could not remember what the dream was all about,
So none of the wise men could provide an interpretation.

The Chaldeans told the King that no-one would be able to explain the dream
He knew then unless he could provide them with more information,
For this cause the King was very angry,
And ordered that all the wise men should be put to death7 if they did not provide an
explanation.

When Daniel heard of this edict he went to see the King,
For he and the other Princes were now included amongst the wise men of the nation,
He told the King that if he was given a little time,
That he would be able to provide an interpretation.

Soon afterwards Daniel returned to the presence of the King,
To report that he had been speaking to Jehovah who was the God of the Jewish
Nation,
That the details of the King’s dream had been revealed to him,
And that he was now able to reveal the dream and to provide an interpretation.

In the dream you saw a beast with a head of pure gold,
Its shoulders and arms were made of silver, his belly made of brass7
His legs were made of iron, and his feet of iron and clay,
You saw a rock thrown which struck the feet of iron and clay,
Which caused the beast to collapse into complete disarray.

The beast represents the Kingdom of which you are the head,
The head of gold shows the power of the Kingdom in the present day,
But as the value of the metals diminish down to the feet,
So the Kingdom will diminish and slowly pass away.

When this has happened the God of Heaven will set up another Kingdom,
A Kingdom which shall last for ever more,
In the dream God has revealed to you what shall come to pass,
And the dream and the interpretation are sure.

King Nebuchadnezzar fell down on his face and worshipped Daniel,
And ordered that the people should offer him an oblation,
He recognised Daniel’s God as the God of Gods and the Lord of Kings,
And Daniel was recognised as a great man throughout the nation.
