Lest we forget

Have we forgotten their ultimate sacrifice?
Of these men and women who died in their millions?
Brave and true, without question,
proud to be British, not ashamed to be Christian.

So many years have passed,
it seems our memory doesn’t last.
Forgetting these courageous people, to our shame.
Why can’t we remember their names?

How short is our memory?
That we have forgotten them already?
Died in their millions fighting for our freedom,
believing in our free democratic ideology.

What does it take to wake up this country,
to rise once again from its complacency?
How much more do we take, before we decide to fight,
for our beliefs, our traditions and our liberty?

Earth angels

Angels are all around us

Look out for them on this earth

They have been with us all the time

From the moment of our material birth

There are many other angels

Who all come in different sizes

People who walk this world

Show themselves in different guises

Ordinary people passing by

Close friends and family too

For when you are in trouble

They will be there for you

You are yourself and angel

When you feel someone’s pain

Seeing those who are suffering

Wishing them all well again

Not all angels are angelic

Be aware what you say and do

For those that looks least likely

Could be an angel standing next to you

Flowers on a lamppost

Flowers on a lamp-post

A loving display

Tributes to a loved one

Whose life was taken away

Why did it happen?

For it`s tearing me apart

The pain that I am feeling

It`s breaking my heart

I keep on thinking if only

These things are within my head

If only they had been somewhere else

They would still be alive not dead

Oh God where were you?

When your help was needed most

If you had been with them

No flowers would be on the post

————————–

My child of the material

I sense and feel your pain

I have not failed you

For you will see them once again

I was with them when they needed me

I took them by the hand

I surrounded them with love and light

As we moved to the Summerland

Fear not for their safety

For their love for you will remain

For the bond of love is strongest

As they comfort you through your pain

When you look at the tributes

That you placed upon the post

Remember, I was with them

When they needed me the most

Solo

I am the one

Who sat upon

The highest cliff

Reaching out to

To the loudest waves

When a man approached me

Smiling,

Though his eyes were sad

He needed someone to talk to,

I did not acknowledge him,

It was at that moment

A teardrop crept from his eye,

Falling and crashing deep into the waves

He followed,

Leaving no trace

When he jumped into the waves,

Silence clung

Like a glove,

All I could feel was his pain

Around my heart

Still…

I remain solo

I wish I had spent the time

To talk to him,

The stranger that I ignored

I wish I had been brave enough,

To hear what he had to say

I was his last hope

Now I will never know

The hurt he held inside

I will never know,

How many times he had cried

About whatever secret he held inside

Why his tear drops fell

Into the hungry waters,

Whilst I sat upon the highest cliff

Reaching out to the loudest waves,

Still I remain solo

If I Lived In A World With Less Pain…Promote Yourself

If I Lived In A World With Less Pain….

I Would if I Could

I am Joy and I want the world to know,

What I would do if this were so.

If I lived in a world with less pain, this is what you would see.

A world filled with less struggles and strain, aching to be free.

I would be a voice that does not go unheard.

But instead be one of distinction to serve,

A community of people with better places to go

In their provision of care that exceeds “the pain world” we’ve come to know.

Pain as it is, with treatment that works.

Not pushed or stereotyped merely because we “irk”,

The professional that thinks we all are the same,

Prescribing a drug that has the same name,

Even if our conditions are in different range

If I were this person this is how it would be,

You could hear my voice but you can’t see me.

Because if I was in less pain I would be free.

Free to live with less struggles and despair,

but with a greater hope to overcome obstacles I can bear.

Free to speak without feeling ashamed

of the world I now exist in with the devastation of pain.

Free to choose a doctor that will openly listen to me

and not place me in the same category.

Free to live out the goals I so desire,

without constantly feeling

 sick, weak, or tired.

Free to be the person I was created to be,

to live out the purpose that was predestined for me.

With more strength than I now have that would carry me through, a life filled with courage and hope anew.

If I lived in a world with less pain “I” would be,

the person behind the door you cannot see.

The person longing, waiting to be free.

Free to be Joy. Free to be me!

I do hope my poem is selected and appears on your site. It would be an honor because my greatest desire is to share my voice and these words with the world. Please note: the door represents the person you can hear but cannot see longing to be free!

Midnight Swim – Promote Yourself

Hi,

My name is John from Northern California, USA. While I am no longer young, I am but a child at heart and also very new to writing. Even newer to writing for the world at large to see. I will be sending entries from time to time as I am inspired. Here is my first. Hope you enjoy.
Midnight Swim

Cold ocean waves

Reflected moon

Diamond glitter

Across the wake

Refreshing plunge

Open water

Quiet mind

Alert,  awake

Depth unknown

Moving shadow

Swift below

Midnight mistake

Jaws of death

Open wide

Scream in pain

For no ones sake

Countless teeth

Razor sharp

Rip and tear

Shred and shake

Foamy water

Crimson red

Flesh is torn

Bones they break

Glimpse the moon

One last time

Pray the LORD

My soul to take.

Beauty is Pain – Promote Yourself

glitterxxxxx

There is something comforting in loneliness and something beautiful in pain.
Because when the happiness (the sunsunsun and the lightlightlight and the hopehopehope),
Skips towards me, I can see
My shadow. It looms and pesters and wants after me,
But I say “maybe another day”.
Pricks of blood slip and slide and shimmy across my fingertip;
The glitter falling from the heavens pierces my skin;
Bright burning yellow glares at my eyes from the blue above.
Because today I will be with the happiness and I can look at pain’s beauty,
From a distance. Observe how it changes and morphs and tries to
OVERCOME.
But we all say “maybe another day”.
And I smile.

The onset of migraine

The onset of migraine

Behind your eyes,

Glittering, dancing,

A half-moon of thorns

In darkness crown you.

Not Christ, may this be lifted.
