Bonfire Night

firefirexxx

As we celebrate bonfire night
Let us remember when it all began
Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Parliament
The government of the day was not a fan

His attempt to destroy failed
For his treachery he was hung
Today we all celebrate bonfire night
With everyone having lots of fun

With fireworks and sparklers
Jumping jacks, bangers and mushy peas
The fire burning lightening up the sky
See the rockets flying over the trees

The smell of bonfire toffee
Fireworks displaying so bright
The fire well alight now
Lightning up the darkest night

Remember to be careful
For fireworks can burn and maim
Let your parents light them all
Keeping all away from hurt and pain

A clouded Imagination

I lay and look into the sky
Watching all the clouds float by,
It’s strange the different shapes I see
Imagining what they could be,
Before they break and the rain falls
They move and mould and create more,
Shapes and things floating free
All the things I wish I could be,
All the animals I’ve never seen
Landmarks of places I’ve never been,
It’s strange to think they are more than just clouds
Imagination taking over the here and now.

Picture Perfect

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

She stood there by the ocean,
The breeze gently lifted her hair.
Of that seagull just above her,
She was totally unaware.Seemingly floating in the sky,
The seagull’s wings were still.
I think it paused to take good aim,
And drop a mess at will.Too late she looked above her head,
Where the seagull hovered now.
Then as I watched in horror,
Bird droppings hit her brow. Her scream pierced the balmy air.
Splat! The stuff hit her face.
Then she saw my camera and me,
And stomped off in disgrace.

Who is in control

When the sun is setting in the western sky
And the daylight surrenders to the darkness of the night
When the day’s work is done and people have time to relax
When the stars of the Milky Way come into sight
Then the magnitude of the universe pervades my soul
And I ask myself the question “who is in control?”

If God is in control why do so many disasters occur?
Why do the powers of evil have so much sway?
These are the questions that I often ask myself
As I lie on my bed at the closing of the day
I have a faith that joy can overcome sorrow
And that daylight will bring a new tomorrow

Many folk believe that God was responsible for creation
But looking around the world today many doubts arise
For all they can see is turmoil and disorder
And nothing that happens is much of a surprise
Church attendance is falling, there are fewer people in the pews
Which means that fewer people are hearing the gospel’s good news

For this reason many folk lack faith in the future
And their lives are lacking any real foundation
The gospel message provides hope and strength for living
Which in times of trouble is a source of consolation
In our despair it will bring comfort to our soul
And we shall never doubt who really is in control

Into the west

golden ship
When will this toil end?
Must I remain affixed to this mortal coil by silver thread?
I long to climb aboard a golden ship and sail
Into the western sky

Over the rainbow where years of dread
No longer hold power to bow my head
I’ll sail away in my ship of gold
Where sadness is nothing but a story once told

Descend once there into fields of green
Laced round and round by lively streams
Land there to till, and good work to do
A pub there is too for a fire and brew

No more deadlines to meet or diesel to breathe
No cold winter chill to bite through my sleeves
Just sun, and rain, and the scent of the sea,
Good friends to hold dear whom I’ve long wished to see

Beyond the horizon I so long to go
Over the rainbow, far past the snow
I long to leave these dark-lit shores
And sail the western sky

Under this-sky’s cover – Promote Yourself

gratitude

Under this-sky’s cover

We are beneath

And You are above

Under this-sky’s cover

Without comprehension dare to speak of love

Under this-sky’s cover

Clouds obscure the sun

Under this-sky’s cover

Our eyes are filled while our hearts remain numb

Under this-sky’s cover

Speak of our good works with reward in hand

Under this sky’s cover

silent and struck with awe

glimpses in spirit

treasures above and beyond

being stored

over ruled…

THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

beam of lightxxxxxxxxxxxx

As I looked into the sky,
I saw a beam of light,
It shone directly over me,
So beautiful and bright,
I looked in amazement,
As the light surveyed the ground,
Sweeping back and forth,
Searching all around.

The light had many colours,
Of reds, blues, and green,
A spectacle of brilliance,
The most beautiful ever seen.
Then from within its beauty,
A symphony of sound was heard,
Filling the air with music,
My very spirit stirred.

A haunting sound of peace,
Filled my heart with love,
Creating an hypnotic trance,
As the light shone from above.
I felt so warm and comfortable,
Bathed in that beautiful light,
Drawn to the end of the tunnel,
To a light that burnt so bright.

At the end of the tunnel,
Was a soul so gentle and meek?
Welcoming a lonely traveller,
Bemused I could not speak.
Welcome to the world of spirit,
This gentle soul he said,
For you have left the material,
Your body on earth is dead.

Now your spirit life is eternal,
And in time will expand and grow,
But now is the time to rest,
To be surrounded by all you know.
Enjoy your life on the material,
Put thoughts of death behind,
Be tolerant with one another,
So all will have peace of mind.

For me my earthly life has ended,
But my loved ones I will be near,
To help in times of torment,
To elevate all fear.
Rest assured my spirits free,
Free from all earthly pain,
So be strengthened in that knowledge
For we all shall meet again.

Walking by Landmarks

counrysidexxxxxxxxxx
~
I took a walk outside the other day
And realized the world has remained the same
The fields are changing as the
Clouds build their quiet momentum
But the stroll is a similar cadence
One can never be moving too soon
While in life missing steps
Would be
A bit nerve wracking
~
I took a walk outside the other day
Skies with their hue of golden blues
Will always brighten my day
Even as the wind’s ice take form
I seek a quiet comfort internally
Only to recognize again
The sudden calm’s change
Might be
A tad unrelenting
~
I took a walk outside the other day
And questioned what occurs
When my mind begins to sway
Off course into a never-land
Of energy no less endearing
Yet driven by our world’s demands.
Could be
A new awakening
~
I took a walk outside the other day
And when I listened to the sweet melody
Of simple pleasure in nature’s Grace
I could imagine a peace
A love of beauty and delight
Shed all aspects of the past
Only to relish a newer day again
Will we
Ever make allowances
~
I took a stroll while on a new avenue today
Noted the people’s intent to thrive in the gray

LISTEN TO THE RAINBOW – Promote Yourself

rainbow222222222

    Red

Hear the blood shed,

(Orange) Clementine

Unspoken words, blurred lines,

Yellow

Refusal to shout, to bellow,

Green

No words shared; between,

Blue

Inaction, injustice we rue,

Indigo

From despair, rises a human archipelago;

Violet

We must no longer be quiet.

A PLACE WHERE LOVE BEGINS – Promote Yourself

reachingxxxxxx

Not in the past where your tempests raged;
Or in the future, when unknown forces could shatter dreams;
Not in your soul, skewered by hatred and resentment;
Only in the present, as an open heart awaits.

Not by running from what is given;
Or hiding in bitterness and acrid thoughts;
Not in your head, where too many goals are left unfulfilled;
Only in hope, not beyond your reach.

Not in innocence lost or violence found;
Or misguided battles, conflicts unresolved;
Not in your body, ravaged with time and pain;
Only in forgiveness of yourself.

Not in others’ perceptions of who you are;
Or finding reasons to run from promise;
Not in your losses, though hard to bear;
Only in taking her hand; reaching for the sun.

Wild Skies

stormysky

Feel life brisk
High pressure settle in
Crisp, autumn morning
With blasts
Draping serious skies
Winter’s scorn is upon us all
A heaviness basks in air
Time now
Time asks for preparation
Nestling
When once we were alone …
~
Quiet morning sun piques behind
Wandering winds
Haunting as the settling sky
Corrals summer’s eve
While we wait upon
A long and slow March
The dusty road turns cold …
~
The winds of autumn reckoning
Each season’s sweet serenity

Beauty is Pain – Promote Yourself

glitterxxxxx

There is something comforting in loneliness and something beautiful in pain.
Because when the happiness (the sunsunsun and the lightlightlight and the hopehopehope),
Skips towards me, I can see
My shadow. It looms and pesters and wants after me,
But I say “maybe another day”.
Pricks of blood slip and slide and shimmy across my fingertip;
The glitter falling from the heavens pierces my skin;
Bright burning yellow glares at my eyes from the blue above.
Because today I will be with the happiness and I can look at pain’s beauty,
From a distance. Observe how it changes and morphs and tries to
OVERCOME.
But we all say “maybe another day”.
And I smile.

“Life and the Sky ” – Promote Yourself

life and sky

I think about the sky,
All the differences there,
It can be bright,
It can be cloudy,
Rain can fall down.

How are we different,
Or are we the same,
Do our emotions,
Match those same things?

Nature and life,
One and the same,
We go out in the world,
To experience life day to day.

I can be happy,
Be at peace where I am,
But the storm can come,
Shake ground I thought sound.

Will there ever,
Come a day,
When I am sure,
That what said will remain?

The sky is vast,
Beautiful at times,
Life feels the same,
Uncertain but still beauty we can find.

I am someone who is trying to make it through. Christine is a pseudonym for me. I am trying to get myself out there hoping to find a little more of myself through my persona and allow others to find something of worth in anything I might say. All I want is to help others realize that we mostly tend to struggle in similar ways and there are others out there who hurt like you, just try to be a friend and it can effect the world in beautiful ways. Art is a form of speaking for the soul. I release it all here, truth, anger, pain, joy, sorrow and sadness. I hope one day to be a published author of poetry books and novels, just continue to share what I love.

Angel

I dreamt I was an angel

Descending from the sky,

I lived amongst the clouds

Way up high,

Now I was falling

So very fast,

Someone was calling

My name

I heard the echo

Ringing in my ears,

I didn’t want to know

I kept falling

Falling, faster,

Someone was still calling

When I landed

In the sea,

I saw mermaids

They all

Surrounded me,

Just bathing

And waving

In the bright blue sea,

I swam into a cave

And could not

Believe my eyes,

There was a mirror

In front of me

Very large in size,

Staring back at me

Was a mermaid

So beautiful was she,

I could not

Stop staring,

Then I realised it was me

Blow, blow, thou winter wind – your favourite poem

Blow, blow, thou winter wind
Thou art not so unkind
As man’s ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen,
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.

Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.

Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky,
That does not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As a friend remembered not.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.
